Verify your Dial-up Connection Settings for Windows
XP
Use this information to verify that you have the correct
settings for your NCF dialup connections.
From the Start menu, choose
Connect To then click Show all
connections.
Note: If you don't see "Connect To" in the Start
menu, the choose Settings and click on
Network Connections.
Right-click your NCF connection icon and
left-click Properties.
On the General tab, ensure that you have
the correct phone number (613-520-1135 or
613-271-9768). Notes:
This image shows "Modem - Unavailable device" --
your modem should be shown there.
If your phone line is pulse, not touch tone, or if
you want to disable call-waiting, you may want to
select "Use dialing rules" and edit your location
accordingly.
On the Options tab, ensure that "Include
Windows logon domain" is NOT checked. You can set your
redialing options to your preference.
On the Networking tab, highlight
"Internet Protocol" and click Properties.
Ensure that your IP address and DNS server addresses are
to be obtained automatically. Click OK.
On the Advanced tab, for your security
you should enable the Internet Connection Firewall
(available on Windows XP service pack 2). Click OK.
