From: jradue@SANDCASTLE.COSC.BROCKU.CA (Jon Radue) Date: Tue,
26 Jul Name: Niagara Community InfoNet We are having some
trouble with this name, as apparently Bell Canada have a
trademark on the word InfoNet. Our next best effort is
Niagara Community Free-Net (or NCF for short!!!) Basic
contact info: jkerr@dewey.ed.brocku.ca (Jim Kerr)
jradue@sandcastle.cosc.brocku.ca (Jon Radue) Status: We
currently have a system running in an experimental test
phase, but not yet open to the public. Deadline: We should be
opening by the end of August, 1994. Software: We have a
modified (to run tin, pico, Usenet, ...) and a secure
(hopefully!) Gopher that we are testing. One advantage of
this approach has been the ease with which information
providers can both supply information and manage their own
menus, using a product developed in-house at Brock. Bookmarks
have also been found by users to be useful. Jon Radue Niagara
