Jennifer Barrigar - CandidateJennifer Barrigar is a lawyer who specializes in online identity, privacy and technology law. She has a BA (Hons) from Carleton, an LL.B. from Dalhousie University, and LL.M. and LL.D. degrees from the University of Ottawa's Centre for Law, Technology and Society. More information as well as commentary on media and technology can be found at reputablelog.org She served as Legal Counsel at the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada and in that capacity developed a specialization in Canada's private sector privacy act (PIPEDA) as well international standards for privacy and data protection. Currently she works with the Government of Canada in the areas of digitization of services and policy regarding employment precarity. Beyond a background in law, technology and privacy, she also brings a history of community Board involvement, with time spent on the Board (and Executive) of both the Ottawa School of Art and the Ottawa Women's Credit Union. Jennifer was an early NCF member, and remains committed to its community focus and emphasis on facilitating digital access and education. |
