The Board of Directors of NCF announces with regret that Ian MacEachern has tendered his resignation as Executive Director. Acknowledging that a change in Executive Directors is particularly difficult for FreeNet at this time, Ian has agreed to remain on the job until November 30; the Board has tasked the Executive Committee to search for and recommend a successor as quickly as possible, to build on the foundation put in place by him. The Board thanked Ian for his technical/financial management in stabilizing basic modem connections and in bringing the major additions of NCF Internet Desktop (thin client) and webmail to the roll-out stage. The new Executive Director's challenge will be to exploit these advances to increase public awareness of NCF and to raise membership and donations to a level that will sustain FreeNet operations in the years ahead.
