Michael Chan - CandidateWhat skills will you contribute to the NCF Board? I am trained in corporate governance through my Bachelors degree in Commerce. I bring seven years of experience in sales and marketing, including four years at a publicly traded manufacturer of home fixtures. I moved to Canada almost two decades ago at the age of nine. Thus, I understand the life of newcomers to Canada, many of which could benefit from services provided by the NCF. I volunteered for the YMCA in helping newcomers practice English, as well as Acorn Canada in helping financially distressed members of the community. This experience helps me identify the needs of different demographics. What are the most important functions of the NCF for its members? NCF provides internet access to those in need whom otherwise might have been excluded from a resource that can continuously better their lives. NCF allows members to better their computer literacy and understanding of the internet, which has become vital in today’s society. Why do you want to be an NCF director? I want to serve on the Board of an organization that helps better the community while using my knowledge and experience to help this organization grow and become more efficient. Michael Chan (ga869) |
