Treasurer's Report

For the year ended
December 31, 2015

For the year ended December 31, 2015 National Capital FreeNet is reporting a surplus of $30,602. This surplus when combined with our unrestricted reserve fund from previous years provides for a current unrestricted reserve fund balance of $376,910. It is important for an organization such as ours to maintain a healthy reserve fund to ensure that the operation can withstand short term financial challenges. As well the reserve fund may be used to invest in hardware and software or services to benefit all our members.

2015 has been year of many changes at NCF. In March we welcomed a new Executive Director, Shelley Robinson. Shelley has instituted a few changes that we believe have had benefits to you as members, one being extended office hours to make NCF more accessible. Also she has applied for various grants that have enabled us to employ students, offer workshops, etc. Shelley has also undergone an extensive pricing exercise and determined that the pricing structure needed to change to continue to give great service and fair prices to all members. This will be implemented in May, 2016 and it is our hope that this will support us to bring the best service in the National Capital Region.

Lastly, I would like to thank our staff and all our dedicated volunteers. We would not be here without your support. We are very grateful to all. Your efforts allow us to continue to offer a well priced internet service to all our members. It has been my pleasure to be a member of the Board of Directors of NCF each of whom are dedicated to steering this organization through the upcoming challenges with continued success.

Respectfully,

Lynn LaHam CPA, CGA
