Pete de Lepper - CandidateWhat skills will you contribute to the NCF Board? Extensive experience working with both small and large ISP’s Extensive experience in customer focused enterprises Not only technical experience, but technology philosophy experience as well What are the most important functions of the NCF for its members? An important function of NCF for its members is the opportunities for accessibility, free of discrimination that computers and the internet today offers. As a young man he spent many hours on NCF’s closed IRC server, where he befriended a gentleman and over the next 6 months built a friendship prior to meeting face to face. It was at that point that he realized his friend was paraplegic and was using alternative interfaces for conversation. Pete recognized the power of the medium, it was an arena where your ideas are representative of you, not your physical characteristics. He considers this the greatest equalizer humans have come up with. Why do you want to be an NCF director? He is interested in being an NCF Director due to this time he spent on NCF that helped define his career path. In the past when it was mainly dial up terminal service, Pete helped many friends connect via PPP to enjoy the web and services in a graphical setting. “I I believe now with it's current highspeed architecture, it has the power to reach out to even more people and the fact it's truly non profit means that members truly come first, not a bottom line.” |
