Alan McRae - CandidateWhat skills will you contribute to the NCF Board? I am a professional accountant with over twenty seven years experience. I have worked mainly in the not for profit sector both as a consultant and an employee providing financial advice to senior management. Since joining the Canadian Society for International Health I have regularly attended meetings of the Board of Directors and the Executive Committee. The experience I have gained working in this sector with both management and governance along with my abilities to manage and problem solve should allow for me to make a significant contribution to the NCF Board. What are the most important functions of the NCF for its members? The NCF provides a low cost solution to internet connectivity which makes it more accessible at time when accessing the internet should be as easy as walking into a public library. To not have this access is a distinct disadvantage. It also offers a local option being Ottawa based, as compared to many providers who are outsourcing their services and becoming less responsive and accessible. Why do you want to be an NCF director? I believe I can make a significant contribution to this organization and having worked for charitable organizations for a number of years I realize how important it is for volunteers to come forward and make a contribution were they can. In addition having represented staff at board meetings for a number of years I would like to experience the perspective of being the volunteer member of the board. |
