John Hennessy - Candidate

I currently operate Hennessy & Associates here in Ottawa, an independent business consultancy serving mainly the firms in the telecommunications industry-- wireless, VoIP, m-commerce, data services and messaging markets. We provide such services as strategic advice to executive teams, market analyis, assessment, and segmentation, identification of key strategic business partners and alliances, etc. We have worked with such firms as Microcell i5 (in Montreal) and BitFlash (in Ottawa). I previously worked with firms like 8x8 Inc (Santa Clara, California), U-Force Inc (Montreal), Sanga International Inc, (U.S., Canada, New Zealand, British Virgin Islands), Accenture-Andersen Consulting (Chicago and Ottawa), Siemens:AG & Nixdorf (Ottawa), IBM: ISM/Westbridge (Ottawa), Gould Computer Corp (Florida), and Secure Technologies Inc (Ottawa).

I have nearly 20 years of experience covering operations and management, sales, and marketing and media. I believe my formal training and experience in such areas as major/large account management, client-partner development methodologies equip me to be a productive member of the NCF Board of Directors.

What skills will you contribute to the NCF Board?

The specific skills that I can contribute are:

Negotiating product and services from vendors whose technologies can be used to further develop and enhance the services of NCF.
Help to reduce technical support and maintenance costs for existing and future technical infrastructure
To negotiate product and support licenses for key industry market makers
Help to develop and support new Marketing and Media campaigns
To assist in introducing new services and market offerings for NCF
To help develop proposals to engage new service partners.
To manage vendor relations of the NCF's equipment, software and service partners.

What do you think are the most important functions of NCF for its members?

Provide high quality, low cost, and universal web access to the largest number of area constituents.
To retain and expand the NCF subscribership by provided a valued service for the community.
To evolve the services and infrastructure to cost effectively compete with commercial ISPs.
To effectively manage and expand individual, corporate and government relationships on behalf of the NCF constituents.
To create and develop a community experience for all the NCF users.

Why do you want to be an NCF director?

To give back to the local community by leveraging my experience and relationships to support and expand the NCF.
I believe that I have unique experience and contacts that can be leveraged to the benefit of the NCF
To continue to gain Board Experience
To mentor and support a cause that I consider important.
