Bio:
I am a long standing ncf member who has also volunteered in the office. The skills I will bring to the Board are from an administration perspective; dealing with a restrictive budget, outreach and networking, and working with volunteers. I am not a computer geek like some of you out there. However, I am comfortable using computers and have helped some computer illiterate people to get online. I believe in order to have an effective Board you must have people with different skills; some technically inclined and some administratively inclined.
Extended bio:
I am a long standing member of NCF, done work in the office for about a year, and have been Volunteer Of The Month. My background is in Social Work with extensive experience volunteering, including holding Board of Directors positions.
I was the former Francophone Vice-President and is currently a Member-at-large on the executive committee of the National Action Committee On The Status Of Women. I have been a Board Member with Disabled Women's Network Ontario and Ottawa-Carleton Independent Living Center, and Elmvale Housing Co-op. I have also done committee work for other organization like with Social Planning Council of Ottawa - Assemblée francophone and Take Back the Night March, and March of Dimes to name a few. Presently I volunteers with Ligne Info-soutien CALACS francophone d'Ottawa-Carleton, Les enfant de ma rue / Kid on the Block, and Ottawa Little Theatre.
I am passionate about promoting NCF to potential new members and takes great pride in being a member myself.
People have told me that I am open to other people's opinions and ideas, but, not afraid to stand up for what I believes in. Honesty, justice, hard work, and caring being just a few examples.
