What are the most important functions of NCF for its members?
In this day and age, access to the Internet is part of everyone's life. It is no longer a nice-to-have, it is equivalent to a utility, such as water and electricity. This is evident in the news coverage of internet outages, which by far surpasses coverage of other things like water supply outages.
The global pandemic further highlighted the necessity of having reliable, consistent, secure and affordable internet access for everyone, as our lives had to transition to the virtual world, from online work meetings to online classes and virtual schooling for our kids. NCF believes that everyone in Canada's National Capital Region should have access to the internet, meaning they can afford a high-quality connection, understand how to use it, and feel safe online.
Why do you want to be an NCF director?
As the current Chair of the board of NCF for the last 3 years, and as a director for the last 5 years, I have and intend to continue to use my professional experience and skills to help NCF provide its members with the best services, while controlling costs to ensure low prices while remaining sustainable.
By providing support to the executive director and staff in formulating and executing on strategy to further deliver on the mandate for NCF, I believe I can add value to the organization. I also take great pleasure in giving back to the National Capital Region community that I have been part of for the past 25 years.
