Setting up Thunderbird

These instructions are for NCF members who wish to setup Thunderbird for the first time. If you have *already* setup Thunderbird and are having trouble sending mail, try these steps.

To setup Thunderbird do the following:

• Open Thunderbird.
• Click on 'Create a new account.
• Enter your email address (ab123@ncf.ca), password, and your name.
• If you have an email alias setup, eg. yourname@ncf.ca, enter that instead.
  Click here to reserve a personalized email alias.
• 
• Click 'Continue'.

• Mail Account Setup Username: (your NCF ID, eg., ab123) Incoming: mail.ncf.ca IMAP 993 SSL/TLS Outgoing: mail.ncf.ca SMTP 465 SSL/TLS

  

• Click 'Create Account'.
• That's it!
• Now test the configuration by sending yourself an email.

The above configuration should work even if you are using a wireless laptop at an internet cafe. The transfer of your password and email between your computer and NCF will be protected by SSL.
